Sad News

I have been putting off posting this, but I have also not been the best at answering emails, texts, phone calls this week, so I knew I needed to fill everyone in.
Grandma headed back to the hospital last Wednesday due to some weakness in her arm and slurred speech.  We all decided that we were pretty much done with Desert Sam, so my Uncle took her to St Joe's/Barrows Neurological.  Her scans showed that she didn't have a stroke and that there was no new bleeding, but did show a couple of masses on her brain.  After further testing we found out that she has cancer.  The cancer has nothing to do with her brain bleed, but is what is causing her headaches.  Grandma had Breast Cancer 5 years ago, and it looks like it has come back and has already spread to several areas.
We have had some trouble getting to talk to the actual Oncologist, and have still not been able to have the official discussion of the findings, and hear their recommendations.  But we did get good news today that they are going to send her home, and we can meet with the oncologist in his office.
We are all aware of what we are going to hear, but obviously it will still be hard.  I would assume that we should have an appointment some time in the next couple of weeks.
I don't think I will post about the actual appointment, but will keep everyone updated as things happen.

Our Valentine's Day

We had a fun Valentine's Day at home.  Our theme for the day was pink and hearts!  We got back out her Christmas Dress, and used it again for Valentine's.  She was very pink!

Every chance I had, I turned her food into a heart shape.  For breakfast she had scrambled eggs and heart shape toast, lunch was a heart shape sandwich and for snack she had jello (heart shape of course!) for the first time, and she LOVES smoothies right now, so I made her one as a special treat.

After she was done with her snack, it was time to decorate cookies!  This time I had icing and sprinkles for her and she loved it.  I let her wear one of my half aprons.  I saw some adorable kid size aprons at Anthropologie that I think she will be getting for her birthday!

And then Daddy came home armed with flowers and wine for me and a giant teddy bear for Emma.  We had a great day!

This Weekend

First, Happy Valentine's Day!  I am a day behind in blogging, so I will be back in a couple of days with pictures from today.
On Saturday I helped host a baby shower for my friend Jessica.  We held a tea filled with scones, tea sandwiches, cupcakes, fruit, and of course tea.  It was a great day, and I can't wait for April when Emma, my mom, and I head out to Vegas to meet baby Ava!

The cupcakes were so yummy and the place that made them, surprised up by making this adorable baby butt cake!

Me and the mommy to be!

Then on Sunday, we had a surprised visit from Grandpa and Grandma Chris
Emma was excited to color with Grandpa.

I have this picture of my Grandpa coloring with me, so I think I will hang these two photos up together.

Emma wants to help mommy and daddy as much as she can.  This weekend, while I was at the shower, she helped Robert fix the bathtubs and cleaned the garage.  After Grandpa and Grandma Chris left, she helped Robert water the plants.

Not the best with her aim yet!

Hope everyone has a great Valentine's Day.  I will back with photos from our day!

A little slow

I know things have been a little slow here on the blog.  Things have been pretty normal around here, and when there was something going on, I didn't have my camera!  We have been hanging out around the house, took a trip to the zoo, and visited with a friend and her little ones while they were in town.
As some of you know from Facebook, I am giving this coupon thing ago.  So far, we are doing pretty well.  Last week I spent $71, but saved $82!  My goal is to only spend $20, but save the big amounts!
Last night we had our normal girls night, but it was our Valentine's celebration.  Cassie brought Eli, who is only 2 months old, and Emma was quite the little helper.  Jessica has some cute photos HERE.  And no, we weren't protesting Valentine's Day.  It just slipped my mind and that is why Emma is wearing black!
I finally hung some things on Emma's playroom walls.  After painting, it was very hard to put holes in the walls, but I finally did it the other day.  We still have some more room to hang things, I am just not sure yet what I want to hang up.  So we will leave it for now until I know for sure what I want in there.

She loves to point out Mommy, Daddy, and her boots in this picture!

And some of Emma's art work!

We are heading out to get our taxes done today, then tomorrow I am going to check out a new photo location, and Saturday is Jessica's baby shower!  Hope everyone has a great weekend!
