Busy Weekend

It was a very busy and exciting weekend at the Green House. Saturday day was spent with Robert doing yard work and me doing some scrapbooking. I wanted to make a scrapbook of the past year of our engagement and was able to get that done, and start on a new project. Of course now that I have started a new project, I realize I need to head back to the scrapbook store to get some more paper. I have tons of paper, just not what I need for this particular album. And besides, do you really need a reason to buy more paper?
Saturday night we went to Outback and had dinner with Robert's dad and step-mom. They took us to dinner for a late birthday celebration. We had a great dinner and some how the conversation kept coming back to Robert and I having kids. Robert's dad was convinced that we had some big announcement to make. There were no announcements made last night....there were also NO announcements to make!

Sunday Robert and I got to go to the Diamondback's game for a group I work with. There is a program called Caps for Kids that my oncology patients get to participate in. It is a group that works on getting hats signed for our patients. Our patients can ask for anyone they want to sign there hat. I have had everyone from Sponge Bob, to the President, to Disney Stars, to sports people. The cool thing is, is that even the cartoon characters are real signatures. They get either the people that draw the character or provide the voice to sign the hat.

But back to the game. Caps for Kids was highlighted at the game today. Me and 5 of my patients got to meet a couple of the players. I honestly had no clue who they were, but do remember that they were pitchers. We got to meet in the press room. It was pretty neat in there and a lot smaller then I expected.

After the kids met with the players and got their autographs, we got to go out onto the field and be introduced during the pre-game ceremonies. The kids go to see themselves on the jumbo tron, plus find their families up in the stands. The really cool, unexpected surprise was that Misty May-Treanor, the Olympic Gold Medalist for Women's Beach Volleyball was there to throw out the first pitch! (Her husband plays for the Mariners and that is who the Diamondbacks were playing). She was in arm lengths from us with her gold medal and everything. I think I wasn't comprehending who it really was and what she was wearing, plus making sure I didn't loose any of the kids as we were trying to get of the field, that I didn't take any pictures. Luckily other people were thinking for me and got some. As soon as I get them I will post them.
Surprise number 2 was where we got to sit for the game. I knew that we were going to sit in a suite. It was suppose to be the party suite. But on the walk up, Erin from the Diamondbacks, told us that they upgraded our suite for us. This is where we were sitting..

Yes, it was the Owner's Suite. It was very nice with it's own personal refrigerator, bathroom, couches, and two flat screen t.v.'s. One on the game, the other on the Olympics.

Surprise #3 came when we realized that 2 suites over from us was Misty May-Treanor! Several of my patients and their brothers and sisters got to go over and get their picture taken with her and her gold medal. Unfortunately the Diamondbacks lost, but everyone had a great time!
On the way home, I was thinking our night was over and I was ready to get home and sit on the couch and not move! Instead we went into the new Sports Chalet that opened by us. Robert had heard they offer lessons in becoming scuba certified and next thing I new he is checking out prices and schedules. The pool they use for the lessons is right there at the store. We found out that they offer a come and try day for free, and we thought that might be better to do first before we spend hundreds on the actual class. (We had heard that you can have a claustrophobic problem, and Robert is kind of concerned about his ears). Some how I also got signed up in the come and try day. Robert is all about it...me not so much. If I don't freak out on the try it day, then I am thinking this is going to be something I wind up doing for him. Oh well, at least he didn't want to get into volcano exploring or something crazy like that!
I think that does it for our crazy weekend! As soon as I get more pictures I will post them. We are both excited because we are only working 4 days this week and then a 4 day weekend! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

New Finds

Hey everyone!
So I found a new website that has really cute birth announcements, invitations, christmas cards, address labels, and gift tags. They also have a blog that is very kid friendly. Everything from new back to school gear, baby names, kid party ideas, anything family/kid related. You have to check them out. Such cute stuff!

They other cute website I found was courtesy of my friends Jessica's blog. It is called Hostess with the Mostess. They have some great party ideas and tips. They planned Trista and Ryan's (The Bachelorette) little boy's 1st birthday. They did a Candy Land theme. It was so cute. You have to go and check out the pictures!

And not really a new find...but Robert is done creating his work's website. He has worked really hard at getting his company more technological based and re-designing the website was one of the many things he has done to get them there. If you are having air conditioning troubles you can put in a request right from the website. Not only that, but you can also get an updated weather forecast as well as see how an air conditioner works!

Saturday Fun

My mom, grandma, and my mom's best friend since childhood, Shelly came over today. Shelly had been wanting to see the house so we had an early birthday celebration for Robert. Everyone in my family HATES having their picture taken, so I knew I couldn't take their pictures for our blog...but I had every intention of taking pictures of the yummy food. But when it came down to it, I forgot. Oh well.
Robert got a couple of gift certificates to Home Depot which he is already anxiously making plans for how to use them. We had ribs with all the sides for lunch and of course cupcakes for dessert. Mom and Shelly looked through the wedding pictures trying to make decisions which ones they wanted. Grandma got overwhelmed looking at all them and told mom to just take care of it for her and she spent the day with JD on the couch.
The puppies actually did really well. They barked very little and JD even let grandma pet him! He fell asleep on her lap! We were very happy that they are getting better with visitors.
Robert is on call this weekend and wound up getting a call at 6 tonight. So he is out working and I am finishing up one of my scrapbooks.
I'm still planning on making the Reese's peanut butter cake for Robert's birthday on Monday..but a little nervous about how it will turn out. I will take pictures of the final product and post them! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Telling Us Something

After we got married, I thought it would be neat if we started collecting snow globes to represent every where we travel to. I have always loved snow globes and thought this would be a fun way to show where we have traveled to instead of the standard refrigerator magnets. Robert wanted to pair shot glasses with the snow globes, so it was decided that I would pick out the snow globe and he would pick out the shot glass.
Since we bought a house so close to the wedding, we decided that it would be best if we put the honeymoon on hold for a little bit. We still each took the week off of work after the wedding and even took a day trip up to Sedona.

It was a beautiful day and we just walked around the town. Going in and out of the shops, sampling fudge, and walking along the creek. It was a great day! But the search was on for a snow globe! I thought this would be a simple thing to find. Boy was I wrong! It kind of turned into a joke and our day was consumed with looking for a stupid snow globe. (Robert found his shot glass in the first store we went into!) The problem was we kept finding these little things that were filled with sand and they said Arizona on them. Nothing said Sedona. Plus I didn't want a SAND globe! I wanted the pretty glitter/snow that I could shake up and watch fall! Others that we found were the cheap plastic ones that had the water and glitter, but they also said Arizona on the inside of the globe. Part of my problem with these is that I have seen them in Walgreens in the Arizona aisle. So finally one of the last stores we went into, after all the other stores were closed for the day, I found one of the "sand" globes that said Sedona on it. I guess we are in Arizona and the sand was more realistic then the snow...so I bought it.

We finally found some shelves and area in the house to display our traveling treasures. This is what it looks like:

Kind of bare huh?! Every time I walk by it I think to my-self "we need to take more trips" So hopefully in the very near future we can do something about this problem!!!

Weekend Happenings

Things were pretty quite at the Green house this weekend. We took advantage of Robert having the weekend off and got massages on Saturday. Robert has never had a massage before and with his work schedule is back has gotten pretty sore. He has heard that the deep tissue massage leaves you sore the next day and he knew he didn't want that. We both signed up for the relaxation/sweedish massage but Robert asked for most of the time to be on his back. The girl that massaged Robert was kind of tiny and he thought there was no way she could hurt him. Mine decided to tell me how dehydrated I was, and Robert's told him that his muscles were very tight and he had lots of knots. Her suggestions were for him to take up Yoga and us to get a hot tub. Can you imagine Robert taking Yoga?! (We got our massages together so we could each hear each other's suggestions.) Even though the girl that did Robert was little, she definitely put her weight behind her massage. There were a couple of times that Robert thought for sure she was using her foot and elbow on him. Needless to say he has a nice bruise on his back. I didn't think bruising was a part of massages, but he is ready to go back and get another. He is even thinking of trying the deep tissue one!
After we got our massages we came back home and relaxed for a little bit. Later that night we went and had dinner and drinks at Outback.
Sunday we both had big plans of laundry, mowing, and scrapbooking....but that turned into 3 loads of laundry, Robert working on the company website, reading, and watching TV. We were both feeling pretty lazy. We did have an unexpected visitor however. When I went to pick up the sheets to put in the washing machine a scorpion feel out of the sheets and landed on my foot. I was talking to my mom on the phone at the time and started yelling for Robert to come and get it. I was scarred that the dogs would get stung so I threw them on top of the bed. Robert finally made it into the room with a plastic container and some chop sticks and caught the scorpion. I just wanted it out of the house so I didn't even think of taking a picture of it! Robert took it down the street and let it go in a field. Needless to say I told Robert he was in charge of doing the laundry today!
