The Past Couple of Weeks

The past couple of weeks, we have been busy with a little of this and that.  Robert started a new job at Parker and Sons, so we have been adjusting to the new schedule of earlier mornings and later nights.  We are hoping this move will lead to bigger and better things in the near future!!
Last weekend we celebrated Robert's birthday.  Emma was very excited about the presents, but I don't think she thinks we did enough to celebrate.  After Robert was done opening, she said "where are more presents", then she asked for birthday cake.  I think she has birthdays down!  After we said that was it, she then said "Emma needs presents".   We told her that she didn't NEED presents, but that she would get some at Christmas and that Christmas came when it was cold outside.  Since then, about every other morning when she wakes up, she asks if it is Christmas.
Last weekend I headed out for a girls night to buy some jewelry.  Jenni's soon to be sister in law Thea, just opened up a jewelry shop on Etsy and held a trunk show here in town.  I knew that the little girls would probably be there, but I decided that Emma could stay home with Robert so I could do a little shopping, relaxing, and drink a glass of wine!!

The group.

Some of the goods.  (There is a give a way for a $20 certificate to Thea's shop on my Photography Blog)

This week, I drug Emma and my Mom out into the heat to try and find a new photo location.  Even though we were already 100 degrees by 9am, our trip was a success.  Here is one of the photos from the new location.  In a couple of days, I will do the full post on my photography blog.

Robert's first night of being on call was last night, and he literally worked 24 hours.  I thought I would give him a quite house to try and catch up on sleep and Emma and headed out to meet Jessica and Sophia at Pottery Barn Kids for a special story time.  They read a couple of Eric Carl books, sang some songs, and colored some pictures.  The girls had a good time, and Jessica and I had a good time at Gap, since they were having a 50% off sale in the entire woman's department.

I think our plans for the rest of the weekend will be spent relaxing and gearing up for next week.  Hope you all have a good weekend!

The Aquarium and Shoe Shopping

Yesterday, Emma and I met my Mom, Shelly, and Shelly's niece Scarlett at Sea Life Aquarium.  With the majority of kids back in school, we pretty much had the Aquarium to ourselves.  The girls had a great time pointing out all the fish and watching them swim overhead.  They ask you not to use your flash when taking pictures, so I didn't take a lot, but I thought these were pretty cute of the girls.

I have been noticing a lot more lately that Emma's feet roll in.  I wasn't that surprised since my feet do it also.  It is something called Caylor.  It isn't a huge deal, but can lead to knee and hip problems as you age.  Emma should still be able to do sports, dance, tumble, whatever she wants.  Once she gets a little older, I am sure we will have to get some inserts made to go inside her shoes to help push her feet up.  But until then, I figured it was time to get her some better shoes.  She pretty much lives in flip flops and ballet flats.  Neither gives her much support.  Since we were "in town", I wanted to run to Chandler Mall so I could go to their Stride Rite store.  Mom came with us and helped me pick out shoes.  They told me that Emma's feet are still developing, so I didn't want to get anything yet that had actual arch support.  But she did tell me what to look for that would give her the best support right now.  So the days of getting $10 shoes at Target are over, and the majority of shoe shopping will be done at Stride Rite, Nike, and Sketchers.  We will still wear the cute ballet flats and sandals, but will save them for special occasions.

Our new "everyday slip on" shoes

We had a great day yesterday, and we are home today being lazy.  We have a new adventure ahead in that Robert's last day at his old job was yesterday.  We are hopeful that his new place of employment will be better for us both right now and  will get him/us where we want to be in the future!
