House Updates

We have been in our new house for almost 6 months now. Things are slowly but surely getting done. We have our list of major projects that we would like to do, but we will have to do them one thing at a time. The first major project we will take on will be the backyard. Right now it is just a dirt lot! Once the weather starts to cool and Robert isn't working so much, we will install sprinkles, grass, and a couple of trees. I am hinting at a fire pit also! Here are some pictures of some of things we have added. Mostly just decorative. We had nothing at the town house so it has been an experience trying to decorate an entire house from scratch. I am sure my in-decisiveness didn't add to it either!!

We now have grass in our front yard!! Robert worked very hard to get the grass growing. He says it was all the talking, singing, and love he gave it!

We also discovered that the bush in the front yard has purple flowers!!! They bloom every morning and then fall off during the middle of the day.

The first major purchase that we bought was our bedroom set. When it first got delivered I was worried that it was way to big! But now I really like it and I'm thinking there is even enough room still to add a chair in the corner!

I have also been working on getting the kitchen decorated. We have a good start to our(my) Italian kitchen! Eventually we will tile the floor, re-finish the cabinets (I think I want them to be darker), and possibly even make the counter tops granite. And of course no kitchen is complete with out a KitchenAid mixer!!

(notice the ugly cheap gold light fixture? They are all through out the house! They will be going away very soon!)

We have one VERY large wall behind the couch that has taken awhile to figure out what do with. We have had many loving conversations about what will work on that wall! (Even to the point of doing research on the web to prove our points!) We are in the process of putting shelves, pictures, and shadow boxes on the wall. We only have one set up right now and need/plan to get more!

JD making sure the shelves are level!
Added to the list: A new couch!

A little bit of bragging

Here are two cards I recently made. One for Robert's Dad and the other for a co-worker that was leaving the clinic. I kind of impressed my-self on these!

As some of you know, I love any and every kind of embellishment that gives a definition or has a cute or meaningful quote! I got these cards that has a word and definition for each letter of the alphabet. I love them!

I am also having a lot of fun with Heidi Swapp's masks. I used them to create the background of the paper for this card. You just place them where you want to and then ink or paint over them. So Easy and kind of like making your own paper!!!

Updates

Hey everyone!
Not too much has been going on the past week. Robert is still very busy and working long hours. He is ready for summer to be done! We did think we were going to have an expensive week, but things worked out! We took the puppies for their yearly check up this past weekend. We were expecting a pretty bill because JD has been walking on 3 legs for the past week. Because of his weight (ha ha!) the vet was pretty sure that it will heal on its own. So we walked out with pain pills and doggy vitamins for joints. We are now the proud owner of a pill crusher and give our dogs medicine every night! Hopefully our kids will take medicine this easy! So far the pills seem to be working and we will avoid surgery. The vet did warn us that there is a good chance that he will injure that leg again. So we will wait and see!
The brakes on my car started making this HORRIBLE grinding noise and vibrating. We found out today that it is only the front brakes and front rotter, so that bill wasn't has horrible as expected either.
Not too much else has been going on. We got to see mom and grandma after the vet and mom had a good lunch for us. I have plans tomorrow to meet my good friends Jessica and Jenni for dinner tomorrow at Moto. They have a great happy hour for sushi and appetizers. It is the only place I know that you can satisfy your craving for sushi as well as sweet potato fries! Still working on the house and trying to find things for walls and shelves. Robert has to work on Saturday so my plan is do to some much needed deep cleaning and then I'll post some pictures of how the house is looking! Hope everyone is having a great week!

Good Finds!

Target has some really good things right now in their dollar section. I got some cute scrapbooking paper packs, hole punches, ribbon, and some cute brads. I also got some gift bags and things for the kids. They even had stuff for the classroom. Go and check it out!

I discovered a new cooking blog the other day while I was looking at our friends Pete and Lindsey's family blog. It's called Favorite Family Recipes. http://favfamilyrecipes.blogspot.com/ They have a Receses Peanut Butter Cake posted right now and I think I will have to try it for Robert's Birthday!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Summer Storm!

Well, I think monsoon season is finally here. We had our first true storm of the season last night. From the way things looked this morning, and what the news had to say it must have been a big storm. Robert and I on the other hand slept right through it. Robert had another 70 hour work week this week and I stayed up each night so I could spend some time with him. By the time last night came, we were exhausted!

We both made it to work ok this morning. The roads were a little flooded and there were some roads that were closed, but it mostly seemed to be the fields that were flooded the most.

The only "damage" to our house was our tree. It tipped over into the house next door, but some how didn't break. Our new project for the weekend will be tieing the tree to a stake for it to stand straight. The other pictures are the entrances into our subdivision. It use to be grass, now it is a nice lake! The last picture is where we sat and watched fireworks last year. Notice the pumper in the background? There were a lot of those around our area today trying to get all this water out!

4th of July Activities

We had a great time over at Matt and Kristen's House. The kids loved playing in the pool. They spent 4 hours in the pool!

Anna and Anya (Matt and Kristen's youngest) hanging out on the step.

It took a little while for Anna to get used to the water. She pretty much hung out on the first step, climbed the water fall, and ran around the deck "saving" people!

Saving Uncle Bobby

The boys loved having Robert throw them off the edge of the pool. Then it progressed into him throwing them off the rock jump. And then you can guess what happened next!

Anna finally decided that she would go into the water. But she made Robert promise that he would not leave her, not let go, that he wouldn't dunk her, and they wouldn't go under the waterfall. By hour 3 of being in the pool she was a little more about being in the water and she kept showing me how she could paddle across the first step!

I think Robert was the biggest kid of all. Yes, that's him going down the slide head first! And yes, that's him sitting on top of the water fall drinking a Capri Sun!

We heard that the fireworks were going to start at 9. So as we were getting the kids out of pool at about 8, a big storm came through. It got so windy that some of the patio furniture wound up in the pool. We thought there was no way that they were going to shoot off the fireworks with the storm, so we let the kids play inside for a little bit. As we were packing things up and getting ready to head home, it was about 9:30. When we walked out the front door we could kind of see the fire works over the orange trees. The problem is, it was kind of hard for Anna to see them, and partly due to a lack of a nap she started freaking out thinking they were bombs. (When they lived in North Carolina they were close enough to the Navy Base that they could hear them practicing) Robert picked her up and in less then 2 minutes she was passed out asleep!

Everyone at the Green house is very tired today. Robert had to work today, I'm getting things back in order from the past two days, and the puppies haven't come out of their kennel all day!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July! One of the things I was looking forward to with our new house was getting door decorations for each holiday/season! This is our first one! I'm so excited to start our holiday decorations collection!
It looks like we are going to take the girls over to our friends Matt and Kristen's house. Matt and Robert work together and the four of us will go out to dinner from time to time. Matt and Kristen have 3 boys and 1 girl. They have a huge backyard and a pool with rock jumps and water falls. We are going to go over there later this afternoon for ribs, hot dogs, swimming, and of course fireworks! I'll post pictures tomorrow!
We hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July!

Surprise Visitors!

So it turned out that Robert's brother, Josh needed to have surgery today for a double hernia. He is at home doing ok, just sore.

So we have Julia and Anna at our house to give him some peace and quite.

In the first 5 minutes of being at our house Anna had gotten all her toys out, played Pretty Pretty Princess, dressed up in a pink boa, played CandyLand, started a movie, and played Disney Princess I-Spy. That girl has so much energy! But we are happy that we can spend sometime with them!

With having the girls I'm not sure what are plans for the Fourth will be, but we will figure out something fun to do with them!

Ok, so I'm a big dork!

When I went to Target yesterday, I saw this shirt and I HAD to get it! But obviously I got it for a very different reason then the shirt intended! It was just too cute!
