Little Dare Devil

Emma fell today attempting to climb our kitchen chairs.  On the way down, she managed to hit both her cheek and her head, which gave her nice little bruises.  Other then the bruises, she is perfectly fine.  I am sure her Uncle Kevin would be very proud!

A better look at her cheek...

And her head.

Random Photos

Emma's first pair of "big girl jeans"!  (They are really just skinny jeans!)

And feeding the ducks!  These aren't the best.  I was worried about her going into the water and attacking ducks!

Shopping Trip

With the weather changing, it was time for all 3 of us to get some summer clothes.  It is the first time that all 3 of us needed new clothes at once, so I am sure our bank account didn't know what to think!
Shopping today was extra fun since Aidan and Amanda joined us.  As always it was great to see them and catch up.  Catching up with Amanda was a little easier this time since the kids were confined in their strollers!  We are hoping to get together again in April and do something a little more kid friendly!

While we were waiting, Emma wanted me to take a picture of her "Princess Strawberry".  It is really a Strawberry Shortcake doll that Emma can comb her hair.  Emma has really been wanting to "play" with my hair, and I get the worse headaches from it!  So I found this little doll that she could use instead.

Making sure mommy sees the dancing water

Amanda and I bought smoothies hoping that it would keep them awake on the drive home so we could get them home for their naps!  (It worked for Emma, but unfortunately, I can hear her in her bed.  Looks like no nap for today!  That's ok.  We had a fun day!

Quick Updates

Sadly, I don't have any photos to go with this post.  Just wanted to give everyone a quick update from the last week.  The worst of Emma's croup seems to be over.  YEA!!  It made a huge difference to put two humidifiers in her room.  She still coughs here and there, and has a little runny nose, but she is sleeping through the night, and no more fevers!
Not only were we stuck at home all last week, but so was Robert.  When he woke up on Tuesday, he couldn't put any weight on one of his feet.  So he headed to the doctor expecting to hear that he had torn a tendon or something.  (Ankle was not swollen or discolored) It turns out that he actually has some kind of really rare disease!  It is called Henoch Purpura.  There is no cure or treatment for it, but I PROMISE it sounds MUCH worse then it really is.  It is actually a childhood disease, and the Doctor thinks that Robert has had it is whole life.  Robert played a lot of sports growing up, the the Doctor is figuring that when he was feeling pain from this disease, Robert probably just figured that the pain was from sports.
Ok.  So simply, what happens, is that when Robert gets sick or has a cold, his body is mad that it has to fight something foreign, so it starts fighting itself.  The top 3 places for the pain to pop up is the feet, knees, and back.  There is no rhyme or reason to the type of pain Robert will get with each illness.  He could get sick, and then not get any pain, or it could be just a little annoying pain, or go all the way up to what happened this time and make it to wear he can't walk for a handful of days.  Robert has some pain pills as well as an anti-inflammatory.  That is really all that can be done.  If it is looking like that from here on out, after every time he gets sick, he is in pain, then when he gets sick, he will start taking the anti-inflammatory hoping to get rid of it before it starts.  But like I said, it sounds much worse then it really is.  I promise!!
We also had a great visit with my Grandma on Saturday.  It took a lot out of her, but she was able to play with Emma, and enjoy herself.
I am happy to be able to go out and about this week.  We will head back to the library tomorrow, girls night, and maybe even head to Schnepf Farms at the end of the week to let Emma pick some fresh veggies.  Hope everyone has a great week!

Yucky and fun all in one!

So let me start with the yucky first, that way we can end on a happy note.  Emma has croup.  She woke up with a very low fever Sunday morning and a scratch voice, but other then that was fine.  She didn't sleep the greatest, but still, I thought she just had a cold.  Then last night was TERRIBLE!  She only slept for about 1-2 hours at a time and would wake up with a horrible cough, then would start crying, and then would have trouble breathing.  A couple of episodes I thought for sure we would be calling 911.  When she got up this morning, she was back to her somewhat normal self, but still with a low fever and raspy voice.  Even though she seemed better, I still took her into the doctor.  The good news is, her lungs sound great.  She just has a classic case of croup.  The Doctor said that croup will typically get better during the day, and then really act up at night.  They gave her a steroid shot to help with her breathing, so at least that should be better tonight and she shouldn't wake up in a panic because she can't breath.  As far as the croup, we will just have to let it play out.  Hopefully by the weekend, she will be back to normal.
On to the fun stuff.....we had The Brown Family over Saturday night for dinner.  Now that Emma is getting older, she can really play with her cousins and it was fun to watch them together.

Robert and I are still working on redoing our bedroom and the family room.  Surprisingly, the family room is coming along much better then our bedroom.  For some reason, I am really struggling with what to put on the walls, and decorations that I thought would work around the room, aren't working out so well.  The last thing we need to do for the family room, is to find some new lights.  Last weekend, we didn't like the supply at Home Depot or Lowes, so we will try again in a couple of weeks.
And here are some random photos from the last two weeks that I found on my camera.  I forgot that I took them!

Emma's new Mickey Mouse watching position

She insisted that she wore her new Minnie Mouse hair bow... and then wanted pictures of it!

She is looking at herself in the mirror instead of looking at the camera!

Her bear has always been her security item, but lately, she has been "taking care" of it.  If she needs a kleenex, then the bear needs one also.  If she is being tickled, then bear gets tickled.  And if she is eating a snack, then bear must need one too.  Today at the doctors, she even wanted the doctor to listen to the bear with her stethoscope like she did to Emma!

Emma seems to go in phases where she likes to wear all of her accessories.  Last week was one  of these times!
