I completely forgot I had these! These were taken about 2 weeks before Miss Riley Jane made her debut. I had seen this done somewhere and wanted to try it out. So I recruited my mom and we played around for a couple of minutes!
And I had to leave this one in a little bit of color so you could see that sweet smile!

1 month
I don't know how, but Riley is 1 month old today! She is doing great and is getting more interactive and playful every day. We are still dealing with her spitting up decent amounts, but she eats well. She will sleep for about a 4 hour stretch at night and naps are still hit and miss. She has started giving us smiles when she sees us. She also seems to really like looking at all different kinds of light, and will even smile at the sun light coming through the blinds. She is giving little coos while awake and has this cute little laugh type noise when she sleeps.
She is super strong when it comes to holding her head up and for the first time today she seemed to be purposefully hitting one of her toys on her play mat.
We are all enjoying every minute with her and love her so much!

Week 3 and 4 photos
Here are some photos from the last week and a half!
Loving my new view while I work on some photography business
Riley has started to really kick her legs and swing her arms when you lay her down, so I thought it was time to get out her play mat. Here she is talking to her reflection and she even smiled at herself!
working on tummy time
Emma is also enjoying Riley's new toy
Little feet!

Sister love
And as you know from the videos, Emma started a dance class last week. She is loving it!

Videos of Miss Emma
This is the prayer that they say at school before snack time. Emma has her own unique way of ending it!
This is Emma's second hip/hop and tumble class. It is through the city of Phoenix and she loves going! I had Riley in my lap, so there is some camera shake!!
Time for some dance! In these next two I had to take some video from the mirror so you could see her.
They did back walk overs for the tumble part today.

Doc update and a trip
We had Riley's weight check today and I am happy to report that she gained a full 13 ounces!! She gained what she needed to, plus she is working on catching up to where she should be! Her jaundice is also much better. She is still spitting up - more like projectile vomit and spitting up a good half of her feed, but she doesn't do it every time. Since it hasn't affected her weight gain, and she doesn't do it with every feed, we are confident that it isn't reflux. So even though it isn't any fun, it is just something that we will have to deal with and be grateful that it isn't affecting her growth.
I couldn't do the post without adding any pictures, so here is a "trip" that we took on Saturday. I wanted to check out Boyce Thompson Arboretum for a possible photo location and luckily it wasn't super hot, so Emma could get outside and run for a little bit. The park is beautiful and I am excited to use it for the upcoming busy holiday photo season!

2 weeks
Time is flying and Riley Jane is already 2 weeks old! We had her 2 week doctor's appt today and unfortunately what should have been an easy appointment, turned into a little bit of a bump in the road. Out first concern was that Riley lost weight. With her spitting up and gagging issues, I knew that we were feeding her on the lower end of the scale, but since she was going 3 to 4 hours between feeds, having wet/dirty diapers, and not sleeping all day and night, I thought we were ok. So we came up with a game plan of trying to give her more volume first. If she didn't tolerate that, then we would go back down in volume, but feed a lot more often. If that still didn't work, then we will look at starting her on an anti-nausea medicine. Our next concern is that she still looked yellow. So we decided to get a billiruben test to see what was going on.
After we got home, I sat down and figured out how much she was actually eating in a 24 hour period. I am embarrassed to say, I was starving my child! She was eating an ounce and a half every 3-4 hours, which totaled only 9 ounces in a day! Again, since she never really showed signs of being hungry, I never really gave much thought into how much she was (or wasn't!) eating! Later that day her doctor called with the billiruben results. Her billieruben is high, but luckily still in the normal range. So he is confident that once we get some more food into her, that will help flush the jaundice out. We go back next week for a weight check, and I really think everything will be good. We have had 2 3 ounce bottles so far today, and for the most part, they seem to be staying down. So for now, we will continue with 3 ounce feeds and see how she does.
Here are some photos from the last week!
Grandpa was at Mt. Rushmore when Riley was born, so he didn't get to meet her until las week.

Riley didn't make things easy for me with her newborn photos. I would have to spend so much time positioning her hands, and of course now, she poses them on her own!
Robert's birthday was August 18. One of his favorite candies are Gummy Bears and Emma loves to share them with him. For his birthday, we got him this extra large gummy bear!
